Fiscal Year 2026 Flood Mitigation Swift Current Grant Now Available

North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) is accepting applications for Fiscal Year 2026 Flood Mitigation Swift Current grant from eligible local communities across the state.

The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Swift Current program is designed to reduce flood risks and repetitive flood damage for homes insured by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The Swift Current grant uses streamlined processes based on disaster declarations and insurance claims to provide rapid, targeted funding for specific individual mitigation projects focused on severely or repeatedly damaged properties. Mitigation projects under this grant include elevations, acquisitions, and mitigation reconstructions.

Applications must be received by NCEM no later than 5PM on January 8, 2027.

Available funding for this grant is $20 million and does have cost share requirements.
